  • Oregon dominated #16 Oregon State last week, winning by a score of 31-7.
  • Washington escaped a surprisingly close game, winning 24-21 against WSU.
  • These two teams last met on October 14, in a game that Washington won 36-33.

The college football regular season has reached Championship Week! Let’s preview the Pac-12 title game between the Oregon Ducks and the Washington Huskies. The winner will certainly claim a spot in the CFP.

Preview

Oregon completely dominated Oregon State in their final game of the regular season, continuing to look like a team deserving of a top-5 ranking. The Ducks will have the opportunity to avenge their only loss of the season against Washington in the Pac-12 Championship Game. If they win, they will undoubtedly earn a spot in the CFP for the first time since its inception in 2014. Their running game is historically excellent.

Washington had yet another close game last week against Washington State. It came down to the wire, with the Huskies eventually being the benefactors of an arguable late penalty, allowing them to kick the game-winning field goal. Washington has a perfect 12-0 record, but has not won a game by double digits in over two months, casting some doubts on their ability. A win here would erase those doubts entirely.

Prediction

I’m a bit surprised to see such a large spread in Oregon’s favor. It is true that the Ducks have dominated their opposition, while the Huskies have played to their opponent’s level and narrowly won every game. That being said, Washington did already beat Oregon this season, and going 12-0 is no small feat. I’d agree that the Ducks are the better team right now and should win this game, but I doubt they cover the spread.

NCAAF Picks:

  • Oregon 38, Washington 33 ()
