Preview
Toledo improved to 6-1 with their win over Ball State. It wasn’t a super confident win for a team that was the 18-point favorite, but a win nonetheless. The Rockets have now locked down a bowl game appearance for the third straight season. After an opening week loss against Illinois, they’ve now won six in a row. They’ll aim to make that seven against Miami-Ohio, in a game that may be a MAC Championship preview.
Miami-Ohio is in a very similar position as Toledo. They improved to 6-1 last week, also claiming their 3rd straight bowl game appearance. The Redhawks are also 3-0 in MAC play. They are the clear leader of the MAC East, as they get set to face the Mac West’s top team in Toledo. Miami has been on the road in 5 of 7 games so far, and will undoubtedly benefit from being back at home here. Their defense has been stellar.
Prediction
This may be the best game of regular season MACtion we’ll see this year, with Toledo and Miami-Ohio leading their respective divisions. I’m very interested to see the matchup between the Rockets high-flying offense and the Redhawks stifling defense. Toledo’s offensive performance last week makes me a bit wary of them, but I ultimately see them bouncing back in this game. I’ll take the Rockets to get the road victory.
