Preview
UCLA continued to look impressive last week, having no trouble in their game against NC Central. The Bruins are the lowest ranked of the Pac-12’s eight ranked teams, but have an opportunity to change that this week with a game against Utah. UCLA doesn’t get much of a break after this week, taking on #21 Washington State and #14 Oregon State right after that. They’ll have a lot to prove in those three games.
Utah won easily again last week, improving to 3-0. They are the two-time defending Pac-12 champions, and may have their best roster so far this season. Unfortunately, while the Utes defense has been stellar, their offense has not been as elite with QB Cameron Rising still recovering from last season’s injury. That being said, Utah defeated the now-ranked Florida Gators easily in Week 1. They’ll try to do the same here.
Prediction
This is one of three ranked vs ranked Pac-12 matchups this weekend, and the one that features the least predictable teams. It’s hard to imagine Utah losing at home based on how they’ve played this season, but they haven’t faced a conference opponent yet either. UCLA should provide a considerable test, but I still favor the Utes at home. I expect a pretty low-scoring and defensive game, with Utah emerging victorious.
NCAAF Picks:
- Utah 27, UCLA 21 ()
