Preview
USC had another poor defensive showing in their loss to Washington, falling to 6-3 on the year. It’s been a disappointing season for the Trojans, who have fallen out of the top-25 after entering the year as CFP hopefuls. USC’s offense has remained excellent under top NFL prospect Caleb Williams, but their defense has struggled all year long. They face another brutal task against Oregon, while trying to avoid a 4th loss.
Oregon remains at the top of the 1-loss teams, knocking on the door of a CFP berth. If they win their last 3 games, they’ll likely get a rematch with Washington on a neutral field in the Pac-12 title game. Redemption in that game would likely earn the Ducks a CFP berth, but they have other games to focus on first. USC’s defense is susceptible, but Oregon will be pressed to keep up with the Trojans high-flying passing attack.
Prediction
I expect this matchup to be very similar to USC’s game against Washington last week. It should be high-scoring right out of the gate, with both teams flying down the field. By the 2nd half, I expect the tired Trojans defense to allow Oregon to run away with it after a few key stops of their own. I’m pretty confident the Ducks can win the game at home, but I’m far less certain they’ll cover such a large spread against USC.
