Preview
UT Martin had a good season last year, but regressed from their 2021 result. After winning 10 games and finishing ranked #12, the Skyhawks dropped to 2nd place in the Ohio Valley in 2022. Despite that, they still went 5-0 in OVC play, and finished with a winning record. Unfortunately, UT Martin missed out on an automatic bid to the FCS playoffs on a coin flip, ending their season. They’ll be in good shape in 2023-24.
Georgia became the first team to win back-to-back titles in the CFP’s 9-year history. They capped off a perfect 15-0 season with an incredible 65-7 win over TCU in the national title game. No team has come close to the Bulldogs over the past two seasons, but they’ve also experience quite a bit of roster turnover with several players entering the NFL Draft. It will be interesting to see if they can remain just as dominant.
Prediction
UT Martin has been one of the FCS’ top teams over the past two seasons. They should have a good shot at winning the Ohio Valley and returning to the FCS playoffs this year. That being said, they stand no chance in this game. If Georgia can win the national championship by 58 points, they can certainly blow out their FCS opposition. Barring any major surprises, the Bulldogs should win it and cover the spread.
