UTSA was unable to defeat Tulane on the road in their season finale, but still went 7-1 in their first season of AAC play after moving from the C-USA. The Roadrunners may have totaled 10 wins had it not been for a difficult non-conference schedule, but can still end the season on a positive with a win in this game. UTSA is led by experienced QB Frank Harris, who missed a few games due to an injury, but is fully healthy now.

Marshall started the season 4-0, looking like they were going to rank near the top of the Sun Belt once again in their 2nd year since leaving the C-USA. Instead, the Thundering Herd went on to lose 5 straight games, before finally settling at 6-6 on the season. Despite their slide, they still claimed just enough wins for bowl eligibility, giving them the chance to get back on track in this game. Their running game is key.

Prediction

UTSA enters this game as pretty large favorites, and with reason. They are 7-1 over their last 8 games, and have looked excellent since Frank Harris returned from injury. On the other hand, Marshall is 2-6 over their last 8 games, and backed their way into this bowl matchup. With all that being said, I would be surprised if this is a massive blowout. I’ll take the Roadrunners to win this game, but by a somewhat modest margin.
