  • Washington improved to 8-0 on Saturday, after defeating Stanford 42-33.
  • USC escaped another high-scoring game, beating Cal, 50-49, on the road.
  • These two teams last met on September 28, 2019, in a game Washington won 28-14.

The college football season is heating up! Let’s preview the upcoming Washington vs USC Pac-12 game. The Huskies are seeking to remain unbeaten and make their 2nd CFP ever, while the Trojans keep sliding.

Preview

Washington is the Pac-12’s last unbeaten team, representing their best chance at a CFP bid. Unfortunately, after dominating to start the season, the Huskies have been inconsistent over the last few weeks. They haven’t won a game by 10 or more points since Week 4 over Cal. In their last two games, they outscored 2-6 Arizona State and 2-6 Stanford 57-40. A win is a win, but Washington still needs to bounce back here.

USC snapped their 2-game losing streak on Saturday, but did so in unimpressive fashion. Their defense was putrid yet again, allowing California to reach 49 points and 527 yards of offense. QB Caleb Williams and the offense has helped the Trojans reach 7-2, but their CFP hopes are gone after the defense allowed 213 points in the last 5 weeks. USC faces three ranked teams to close out the year, which could be brutal.

Prediction

I’m a bit surprised to see such a small spread in this game. It’s true that USC is home here, and opened the season highly ranked thanks to their prolific offense. Unfortunately, with a defense that allows 40 points each week, the Trojans match up extremely poorly against Washington. The Huskies offense should have a field day in this game. I see them winning this one on the road, after scoring 50+ points and covering.
