As the 2023-24 NFL season rapidly approaches, let’s evaluate the AFC East division, and project the final win totals of all four teams for this season. They could be the strongest overall division in the NFL in 2023.

Buffalo Bills
- 2022 Record: 13-3

Over/Under 10.5 Wins
The Bills had another strong season in 2022, finishing 13-3 on the year. After winning the AFC East for the 3rd straight season, Buffalo is once again set up for another solid finish. QB Josh Allen will be aiming to bounce back after an increase in turnovers last year. While they’ve been very successful in the regular season, the Bills are still trying to return to the Super Bowl. They should be able to get to 12 wins again.

New York Jets
- 2022 Record: 7-10
- Odds to win AFC East:
Over/Under 9.5 Wins
The Jets started last season pretty well, aided by a fantastic 2022 rookie class that featured CB Sauce Gardner, RB Breece Hall, and WR Garrett Wilson. An injury to Hall and inconsistent QB play from Wilson and White ultimately resulted in New York winning just 7 games. This year, they brought in QB Aaron Rodgers to take them to the next level. I’m not sold he can do it at 40 years old. I see the Jets at 8-9 wins this year.

Miami Dolphins
- 2022 Record: 9-8
- Odds to win AFC East:
Over/Under 9.5 Wins
The Dolphins snapped a 6-year playoff drought last season, before eventually losing in the Wild Card round. Miami has now finished with 9 or more wins in each of the last three seasons. They’ll return a dangerous offense featuring WRs Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. On the other hand, their defense regressed a ton last year, becoming a major problem. With some holes filled, Miami should earn 10 wins.

New England Patriots
- 2022 Record: 8-9
- Odds to win AFC East:
Over/Under 7.5 Wins
The Patriots are no longer the cream of the crop in the AFC East, now facing what could be their first last place finish in the division since 2000. Despite the projections, New England is always competitive, and should be able to ride their defense to a moderate level of success. That being said, they’ve seen some key departures on defense, and watched Mac Jones regress in 2022. I see the Patriots at 6-7 wins here.
