Preview
The Bills continued to look like one of the NFL’s best teams last year, but came up short in the playoffs. A stacked AFC conference has made it tough for Buffalo to advance, despite their regular season success. This season, the Bills are considered a candidate for minor regression, while playing in a stacked AFC East. Josh Allen can put both those discussions and the “Madden Curse” to rest with a win here over the Jets.
New York holds the NFL’s longest playoff drought at 12 years. After taking a step forward last season thanks to a stellar 2022 draft class, the Jets went all in this offseason. They acquired QB Aaron Rodgers, RB Dalvin Cook, and WRs Allan Lazard, Randall Cobb, and Mecole Hardman. While New York’s offense has been fully revamped, it’s their defense that truly holds the keys to their success. They should be very solid.
Prediction
While I do believe the Jets will have a top-10 defense this season, I’m a bit less sold on their offense. I’m worried about Rodgers’ lack of mobility at his age. Behind an subpar offensive line, that could be a recipe for disaster. Because of that, I’m a bit wary of the Jets, placing them more in the 9-10 win range than 12-13 like others. Buffalo will be one of the toughest tests, and Josh Allen’s mobility is a very clear advantage.
