Preview
The Chargers found themselves in a shootout with the Dolphins on Sunday, as we projected in our Week 1 picks. They saw much of the same issues as last season, struggling to overcome a defense that allowed score after score. While the offense has been strong for years, the defense is in need of major upgrades. Los Angeles has a chance to bounce back on defense against a much less dangerous Titans offense here.
Tennessee was unable to defeat the Saints on Sunday, despite a spirited comeback attempt. DeAndre Hopkins immediately slotted in as the top WR, catching 7 of 13 targets for 65 yards. While Hopkins and the defense aided Tennessee, QB Ryan Tannehill did not. He finished the day 16 for 34 for 198 yards, 0 TDs, and 3 INTs. It’s worth wondering if the Titans will give the young Malik Willis or Will Levis a chance at QB.
Prediction
After the results of Week 1, both of these teams are in desperate need of a win. Going 0-2 is detrimental to a team’s playoff hopes, especially in a stacked AFC conference. The Chargers should have the advantage here, especially on offense. Their offense should provide a good test for a solid Titans defense. That being said, Los Angeles needs their defense to be better to win. I think they’ll do just well enough to win this one.
