The Commanders took their first loss of the season this week, being blown out at home by the Bills, 37-3. After defeating the bottom-dwelling Cardinals and Broncos, Washington needs to compete against the Eagles this week to prove they can hang with the top teams. Against Buffalo, Sam Howell completed 19 of 29 passes for 170 yards, no TDs, and 4 INTs. He needs to bounce back against the Eagles to have a shot.
Philadelphia surged past the Buccaneers on Sunday, winning 25-11, and improving to 3-0 on the season. They join the Dolphins and 49ers as the only undefeated teams in the league after 3 weeks. The Eagles finally saw some much needed cohesion on defense against Tampa Bay. If the defense continues to improve, Philadelphia may run away with the NFC East. They’ll aim to prove they can against Washington.
Prediction
After seeing the Cardinals beat the Cowboys and the Texans beat the Jaguars last week, it’s hard to feel confident in any specific game. That being said, this is leaning towards one of the more lopsided matchups of the week. Washington is likely to bounce back quite a bit after a horrible showing last week, but I doubt it will be enough for them to win in Philadelphia. I’d expect a pretty confident home win for the Eagles here.
