Preview
Dallas got a key victory against the Lions, following another controversial officiating performance from referee Brad Allen. Nonetheless, the Cowboys will gratefully move forward with the win, now holding a share of 1st place in the NFC East. They can clinch the division and lock down a home playoff game in the Wild Card round if they defeat the 4-12 Commanders in this game. They will be in the playoffs regardless.
The Commanders had another massively disappointing season. They’ve now lost seven straight games, and have been in full-on tank mode for weeks. Washington is widely expected to select a QB in the 2024 draft. This game could be former UNC QB Sam Howell’s last chance to prove his worth as a starter before they bring in what could be another UNC QB in Drake Maye. Washington is a long shot to play spoiler here.
Prediction
With how poorly the Commanders have played all season, I’m fairly confident taking them to lose this game. They lost to Dallas 45-10 a month ago, and could be in for another long game. That being said, Washington does have the slight benefit of home-field advantage here. While I doubt that will be enough to keep them in it, it could make covering a two-touchdown spread a bit more difficult for the Cowboys.
NFL Picks:
- Cowboys 31, Commanders 20 ()
