Preview
Miami was unable to defeat Buffalo on Sunday night, missing out on their chance to win the AFC East for the first time since 2008. Instead of hosting a home playoff game, the Dolphins will now head on the road to take on the defending Super Bowl Champions. After struggling on offense against Buffalo and defense against Baltimore, Miami has much to address. They will also need to overcome many injuries in this game.
The Chiefs were locked into the AFC’s 3-seed prior to Week 18, allowing them to rest their starters against the Chargers. Even so, they still got the victory, improving to 11-6 on the year. It’s been an inconsistent season by Kansas City standards. Their offense is lacking in weapons around Mahomes, but their defense also improved this year. They’ll be tasked with stopping former WR Tyreek Hill from dominating this game.
Prediction
These two teams already met once in Kansas City two months ago, making this a direct rematch of that game. The Chiefs managed to keep Tyreek Hill in check, allowing him to reach just 62 yards, as they went on to win 21-14. Despite injuries on both sides, I expect the rematch to be higher-scoring, with both QBs playing at an elite level. Ultimately, I can’t bet against Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs. I’ll take the Chiefs.
