Preview
The Dolphins had the exact type of performance that many expected in Week 1, finding themselves in a shootout with the Chargers. While the offensive success is a great sign, their troubles on the defensive side of the ball is an issue that has lingered for a couple of seasons. Even so, Miami will be tough to beat this season, especially if Tyreek Hill manages to reach the goal he set for himself of 2,000 receiving yards.
New England played the defending NFC champions pretty well in Week 1, but ultimately came up short. After falling behind 16-0 in the 1st quarter, the Patriots quickly rebounded, entering the half down just 16-14. Unfortunately, they failed to do much else after that, stifled by the Eagles defense. Kendrick Bourne had a standout game, reeling in 6 catches for 64 yards and 2 TDs. He’ll aim to continue making an impact.
Prediction
Miami’s offense is the most dynamic asset for either of these two teams, but they’ll certainly face a tougher test against New England’s defense than they did against the Chargers. The Patriots proved in Week 1 they don’t go down easily, even against tough teams. That being said, the Dolphins have played historically well in Foxboro, even before improving as of late. I’ll take Miami to win this one on the road.
