The Falcons won a thriller against the Packers on Sunday. They entering the 4th quarter trailing 24-12, but scored 10 unanswered points to get the score to 24-22. Their defense forced the Packers to two straight 3-and-outs, and then the offense drove 68 yards down the field to kick a game winning field goal. It was a great sign for Atlanta’s future, with several of their young players shining. Bijan Robinson tallied 172 yards.

Detroit saw shades of last season in their loss against Seattle, giving up 37 points and struggling to stop their opponent’s offense. While their defense took a major step back from Week 1, the offense looked impressive again. Jared Goof was very efficient, posting a 122 passer rating on the day. Unfortunately, RB David Montgomery suffered an injury in the loss. Rookie Jahmyr Gibbs will be asked to step into a big role.

Prediction

Both of these teams are hoping to put the struggles of the past several seasons behind them. They’ve had encouraging starts, especially the Falcons who sit at 2-0. Atlanta will face a tough task to get to 3-0, heading on the road to face a scrappy Lions team that will be playing angry football after their OT loss. This should be a close, competitive game. I’ll take Detroit to win it at home, but not by enough to cover.
