Preview
New York’s season continues to be the worst-case scenario. With QB Daniel Jones headlining a long list of injured starters missing extended time, the Giants continue to lose by massive margins each week. The silver lining for them is their ability to claim a top pick in a stacked 2024 NFL Draft. The Giants roster made the playoffs a season ago, so adding more young talent could help them rebound faster than expected.
The Commanders dropped to 4-6 in their loss to Seattle. They remain on the edge of the playoff bubble, but have now lost 6 of their last 8 games after opening the season 2-0. Washington needs to capitalize on this matchup against the Giants to have any chance of making the playoffs. The defense will have a shot to bounce back after another subpar performance, but also traded away DE Chase Young to the 49ers.
Prediction
It’s been a couple of seasons since the Commanders last beat the Giants, but they have their best chance to break that streak yet. New York is no longer fielding a roster full of NFL starters, and has been blown out week after week. That being said, a similarly beat-up New York team held Washington to just 7 points in their victory a couple weeks ago. I expect the Giants defense to cause the Commanders fits once again.
