The Jaguars got a key win over the Colts on Sunday, improving to 4-2 and claiming the outright lead in the AFC South. In 1st, Jacksonville controls their destiny, but may face more opposition from the other teams in the division than expected. Their win this week was a bit deflated by the injury to Trevor Lawrence, but it is not expected to be serious. the Jaguars will need Lawrence this week against a tough Saints defense.
New Orleans lost to a surprisingly scrappy Texans team in Houston, falling to 3-3 on the season. They’re now 1-1 against the AFC South, with their next two opponents also coming from that division. The Saints fell to a half game behind Tampa Bay with their loss, and need to take advantage of some winnable games coming up to get back on track. The return of RB Alvin Kamara, who tallied 104 yards on Sunday, is huge.
Prediction
With the status of Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence a bit in question, the Saints are likely the safer bet at home here. If Lawrence doesn’t play, New Orleans should have more than enough on defense to get the win. If he does play, the game will be a lot closer. That being said, the Jaguars will still be at a disadvantage in a short week with a QB that is unlikely to be at 100%. I’ll take the Saints to win and cover this game at home.
