Game Preview
In week 12, the Bengals suffered a 16-10 defeat against the Steelers, which dealt a major blow to their playoff hopes. Although it is still mathematically possible for Cincinnati to make it to the playoffs, the absence of their star QB Joe Burrow, who is on the injured reserve list and is likely out for the remainder of the season, makes it highly unlikely. The backup QB Jake Browning is not as talented as Burrow, and as a result, the offense is not performing at its best.
The Jaguars have been a little inconsistent so far this season, but their 24-21 win over the Texans in week 12 was hard fought and showed that they are a team to be taken seriously. WR Calvin Ridley has hit his stride in recent weeks and against the Texans the 28-year-old was a constant threat. Ridley finished the game with 5 receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown, to go with his two scores the previous week (his first since week 4 of the season).
Prediction
The Bengals defense is a force to be reckoned with, but their offense has faded with the loss of Joe Burrow. The Jaguars have won two straight and I expect them to add a third victory here.
