Game Preview
The Panthers’ abject season continued with an 18-21 loss at the hands of Tampa Bay in week 13. Despite the defeat there were a few positives for Carolina to come away with this week. Chuba Hubbard continued to impress after surpassing Miles Sanders as the lead running back. The 24-year-old carried the ball 25 times for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns and is on course for his best year in a Panthers’ jersey. Rookie wide receiver Jonathan Mingo had the best game of his fledgling career, catching 6 of 10 targets for 69 yards.
The Saints lost a close matchup with the Lions 33-28 on Sunday and also lost QB Derek Carr to multiple injuries. There is good news for New Orleans though, as Carr cleared concussion protocol and overcame rib and shoulder injuries to shake off an injury designation for this week. WR Chris Olave missed practice this week with flu but is expected to suit up and play.
Prediction
The Panthers have improved in recent weeks but they are still the worst team in the NFL right now, and New Orleans’ defense is a tough unit. I see the Saints getting the victory here, but by a fine margin.
