The Patriots’ 6-0 loss to the Chargers was a drab and miserable affair, with neither team imposing itself on the game. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson suffered a high ankle sprain on the Patriots’ second drive of the game, heading to the locker room and eventually being ruled out for the remainder of the game. The 25-year-old is expected to miss at least two weeks, veteran Ezekiel Elliott will assume lead back duties in his absence. Bailey Zappe will continue at quarterback despite the meagre showing in his first start of the season.
Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett has undergone surgery on his right ankle following the injury that saw him exit the game in week 13. Pickett is expected to miss at least three weeks as a result. His replacement, Mitch Trubisky, completed 11 of 17 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown but the Steelers were unable to find a way back into the game, losing 24-10.
Prediction
The Patriots have lost 5 in a row, and thing don’t look like improving any time soon. Despite losing their starting quarterback, Pittsburgh should be too good for New England here and I expect them to win a low scoring game.
