Game Preview
Despite losing 29-25 to the Buccaneers, and losing their grip on top spot in the division in the process, the Falcons offense looked much more cohesive in week 14. Quarterback Desmond Ridder threw 26/40 completions for 347 yards and a touchdown, as well as carrying the ball 5 times for 15 yards and a score. Their big offensive weapons were all involved too, a good sign for Atlanta going forwards. Bijan Robinson saw 10 carries for 34 yards and a touchdown, adding another 54 yards on 5 receptions. Drake London had a career day with 10 receptions for 172 yards and tight end Kyle Pitts caught 3 of 6 targets for 57 yards and a score.
Carolina’s struggles continued as they lost 6-28 to the Saints in week 14. Still in the game at 6-14 at the end of the 3rd quarter, the Panthers crumbled and 14 unanswered points in the 4th put a lock on the victory for New Orleans. The Panthers have a huge amount of injury concerns, with 11 players carrying a questionable tag into Thursday’s practice. When added to the 14 players on IR things do not appear to get any easier for them heading into the final weeks of the regular season.
Prediction
The Falcons couldn’t ask for a better matchup after falling to defeat in week 14, as the Panthers are the worst team in the NFL right now. Atlanta should win this one comfortably.
