Game Preview

During week 14 of the NFL season, the Los Angeles Chargers lost 24-7 to their divisional rivals, the Denver Broncos. Unfortunately, during the game, the Chargers’ starting quarterback, Justin Herbert, suffered a finger injury which has now ruled him out for the rest of the season. As a result, Easton Stick, who is 28 years old and has never started an NFL game before, will be the starting quarterback for the Chargers on Thursday night. With Herbert out, the team will have to rely more on their running game. Luckily, running back Austin Ekeler had a great game in week 14 and is back to form. He managed to run for 51 yards and score a touchdown on 10 carries, as well as catching 5 receptions for 49 yards.

The Raiders suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat against the Vikings in week 14, but the only notable event was the quadricep injury sustained by their star running back Josh Jacobs. The 25-year-old was listed as DNP for both of Las Vegas’ walkthrough practices this week. Should he fail to suit up then the lead back role will go to sophomore Zamir White. Edge rusher Maxx Crosby picked up the 50th sack of his career on Sunday, becoming one of only five players in franchise history to hit that mark.

Prediction

The Raiders are slight favorites here, but they are tough to trust based on last week’s performance. I’ll take a gamble on them bouncing back enough to defeat the Chargers, but I’m far from 100% confident here.
