  • The Vikings beat the Raiders 3-0 in week 14.
  • The Bengals defeated the Colts 14-34 last time out.
  • These teams have met 14 times previously, with the series tied at 7-7-0.

The 7-6 Minnesota Vikings take on the 7-6 Cincinnati Bengals in this week 15 matchup. Both of these teams have seen serious injuries hamper their season, but they still remain in contention for the playoffs as things stand.

Game Preview

Nick Mullens has been named the starting quarterback for the Vikings after replacing Joshua Dobbs in the 3-0 victory over the Raiders in week 14. The 28-year-old becomes the fourth different quarterback to start for the Vikings in 2023. WR Justin Jefferson saw his week 14 return to action cut short by a chest injury, and the 4th year wideout has been limited in practice this week as a result. Jefferson has told reporters he expects to play, although his impact with a new QB under center will remain to be seen. RB Alexander Mattison could miss week 15 with an ankle injury, Ty Chandler will be the lead back if Mattison fails to suit up.

The Bengals have doubts over wide receivers Jamar Chase and Tyler Boyd heading into week 15. Both are nursing ankle injuries picked up in their teams’ 14-34 victory over the Colts, but both are trending towards playing on Saturday. Rookie running back Chase Brown had a breakout game in week 14, logging 8 carries for 25 yards and 3 receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown. Alongside Joe Mixon, Brown adds depth to an already formidable run game.

Prediction

The Vikings defense has been excellent in recent weeks, but their offense has stuttered. Justin Jefferson will help them bring more potency to the offense but it may not be enough here. I see the Bengals winning as they have more weapons on both sides of the football in this one.
