Game Preview

The Ravens clinched their place in the playoffs with their 23-7 victory over the Jaguars last weekend. Cleveland’s win over Houston on Sunday means that the Ravens can’t secure the #1 seed this week, setting up a key encounter against the Dolphins in week 17. Baltimore lost running back Keaton Mitchell to injury against the Jaguars, meaning Gus Edwards will once again be elevated to lead back duties. WR Odell Beckham Jr missed Saturday’s estimated practice with an illness but is expected to suit up on Monday, as is Zay Flowers who was listed as questionable.

The 49ers run defense came under fire as they allowed 234 yards against them in the 45-29 win over the Cardinals in week 15. Baltimore will pose a similar threat, with a mobile quarterback and powerful running backs, so all eyes will be on the D-Line here. San Francisco’s offense has looked almost unstoppable when all their key pieces are fit and healthy, as they have been of late. In Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk they have a trio of players able to hurt you in many different ways, and QB Brock Purdy is the glue which holds them all together.

Prediction

This is a preview of everybody’s predicted Superbowl matchup, and if that holds true then we could see a cagey game with neither team wanting to give too much away. I think the Ravens are more than capable of winning here, but I’m siding with a 49ers team who I believe will lift the Vince Lombardi trophy this year.
