Game Preview
The Lions came through a tough test against the Vikings in week 16, winning 30-24 and sealing top spot in the NFC North division in the process. Rookie RB Jahmyr Gibbs was outstanding once again, rushing for 80 yards and two touchdowns from 15 carries, and adding a further 20 yards from 4 receptions. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown recorded his 8th game of the season with over 100 receiving yards, posting 106 yards and one touchdown from 12 receptions. Detroit has won its last two games on the bounce and will hope to maintain momentum heading into the post season.
The Cowboys fell to their second straight defeat in week 16, losing 20-22 to the Dolphins in a shootout between two exciting quarterbacks. Tua Tagovailoa may have come away with the win, but Dak Prescott had a fine game, throwing 20 of 32 completions for 253 yards and two touchdowns. WR CeeDee Lamb was the star of the show once again, catching 6 receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown. The Cowboys will need Prescott and Lamb to continue combining well if they are to reverse their poor form heading into the playoffs.
Prediction
The form book is with Detroit heading into this matchup, but I always have a hard time trusting Jared Goff on the road. I’m siding with the Cowboys to break their run of defeats here and pick up a win against a team with a winning record.
