  • The Raiders edged the Broncos 16-17 on Sunday.
  • The Bills lost their season opener 16-22 to the Jets on Monday.
  • These teams last met in October 2020 with the Bills winning 30-23.

The Raiders grabbed a week 1 victory with Jimmy Garoppolo under center for the first time and will be looking to go 2-0 when they visit Buffalo on Sunday. The Bills will want to bounce back with a victory after losing to the Jets on Monday night in a game that will largely be remembered for the season-ending loss of New York quarterback Aaron Rodgers after only 3 minutes.

Game Preview

The Raiders looked like a very different team with Jimmy G at the helm compared to the Derek Carr years, opting for short passes and moving the ball quickly. Jakobi Meyers had a great debut, collecting 9/10 targets for 81 yards and two touchdowns before leaving the game due to a concussion. If Meyers fails to clear protocol in time for Sunday’s game then DeAndre Carter and Hunter Renfrew may benefit from those vacated targets. Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs remain the key threats for this offense though.

The Bills suffered a 16-22 OT loss to the Jets on Monday night but they will be confident of picking up plenty of wins this season based on their performance. Josh Allen was in fine form, throwing 29/41 for 236 and a touchdown but he will want better protection from his O-line against Las Vegas after being sacked 5 times here.

Prediction

Las Vegas should be confident of a better season in 2023 based on their performance against Denver in week 1, but they may not face many tougher tests than this one. The Bills are one of the best teams in the NFL and unless the Raiders find a way of containing Stefon Diggs and pressuring Josh Allen this should be a formality for Buffalo. The Raiders fan in me says they can cause a huge upset but, as an analyst, I can only ever side with the Bills here.
