  • The Bills thrashed the Raiders 10-38 in one-sided week 2 matchup.
  • The Commanders beat the Broncos 35-33 in a high-scoring thriller.
  • These two teams last met in 2021 with the Bills winning 21-43.

The Bills put their week 1 woes behind them on Sunday as they cruised to a win over the Raiders. The Commanders edged another close matchup against the Broncos to go 2-0 for the season. This will be the biggest test of Sam Howell’s career under center for Washington as he faces one of the best teams in the NFL.

Game Preview

The Bills were barely tested in their week 2 matchup with the Raiders and all of their star players put in solid performances. There are injury concerns over Terrel Bernard, Micah Hyde, and Leonard Floyd on defense as well as TE Dawson Knox on offense which is worth monitoring. If Knox misses out then rookie Dalton Kincaid can expect to be more involved against a side that gives up plenty of opportunities to the tight end position. QB Josh Allen was impeccable against the Raiders, throwing 31/37 for 274 yards and three touchdowns.

Sam Howell’s Commanders came through another close game on Sunday and recorded their second win of the season in the process. The young QB threw 27/39 for 299 yards and two scores but felt pressure in the pocket and was sacked four times. Brian Robinson continued to show his skills at RB, rushing for 87 yards and two touchdowns on 18 attempts. Veteran TE Logan Thomas suffered a nasty concussion as he held onto a catch in the end zone and is unlikely to clear protocol in time for this matchup. Cole Turner is the next man up for the catching tight-end duties in his absence.

Prediction

The Bills stuttered against the Jets in week 1 but found their rhythm in week 2 which is ominous for Washington in this one. This is by far Howell’s biggest test as a Commander and whilst I expect him to rise to the challenge I can’t see them getting the win here. I have the Bills to win out in a slobber knocker of a contest.
