Game Preview
Saints running back Jamaal Williams is unlikely to feature against the Packers due to a hamstring injury. Rookie Kendre Miller is in line to get his first snaps of the season although Tony Jones will likely share the workload. As always, utility player Taysom Hill will also share the rushing duties in his unique blend of QB, TE and RB roles. Receivers Chris Olave, Michael Thomas and Rashid Shaheed have all made decent contributions through weeks 1 and 2 so that is expected to continue here. The New Orleans defense has now gone 10 straight games holding opponents to 20 points or fewer, a remarkable achievement and a significant reason for their success.
The Falcons scored 13 unanswered 4th quarter points to come from behind and beat the Packers on Sunday. Prior to that Green Bay had looked impressive and Jordan Love racked up another 3 passing touchdowns on just 14 completions. WR Christian Watson was once again limited in practice on Wednesday. His status needs monitoring to see whether he will make his season debut this week. Rookies Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks along with sophomore Romeo Doubs will provide the threat in the air if Watson misses out again.
Prediction
Green Bay head into this matchup as favorites but New Orleans will be no pushover. I expect Kendre Miller to make the most of his first start and Derek Carr’s experience to prove out in the end. The Saints will overcome the odds and win here.
