  • The Buccaneers lost 25-11 to the Eagles on Monday night.
  • The Saints were losers in a tight 17-18 matchup with the Packers on Sunday.
  • The Saints lost 16-17 to the Buccaneers in December 2022.

The 2-1 Buccaneers take on the 2-1 Saints in this NFC South divisional matchup. These two teams have been excellent on defense this season so this one could be a low-scoring thriller.

Game Preview

The Buccaneers’ loss to the Eagles was unsurprising but overall Tampa Bay fans can be happy with their season so far. QB Baker Mayfield may not have the presence of Tom Brady but he has performed above expectations through the first three weeks of the season. Mike Evans remains a key piece of this offense and the veteran wide receiver remains on course for his 10th consecutive 1000+ yard season. The Buccaneers need to find a way to get running back Rachaad White into the game more in order to close out games when on top but aside from that they look like a good football team once again.

The Saints welcome superstar running back Alvin Kamara back for week 4 of the regular season, following the 28-year-old’s three-game suspension. Derek Carr will have to wait a little longer to link up with Kamara though as the quarterback suffered a shoulder injury in the week 3 defeat to Green Bay. Carr has not practiced so far this week and Jameis Winston is expected to be under center for Sunday’s game.

Prediction

The New Orleans defense has not conceded more than 18 points in any game so far this season. Whilst the Buccaneers’ defense is also solid the Tampa Bay team has fewer offensive weapons at its disposal. In a game of two great defenses, I will go with the better offense for my pick. New Orleans to win this one – just!
