Game Preview
The Lions ran rampant in their 24-42 victory over the Panthers in week 5. QB Jared Goff threw 20/28 completions for 236 yards and 3 touchdowns whilst also adding a score himself on one of two runs. Rookie tight end Sam La’Porta continued his fine start to the season with 3 receptions for 47 yards and 2 touchdowns and the youngster is quickly making a name for himself at the position. David Montgomery is also in fine form this year and the running back took 19 carries for 109 yards and a score. With Amon-Ra St. Brown practicing in full this week Detroit’s receiving corps should be back to full strength when they take on the Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers come off their week 5 bye week with some good news. WR Mike Evans was able to use the week off to rest his hamstring and returned to limited practice on Thursday. Provided the 30-year-old comes through Friday’s practice unscathed then he should be able to suit up on Sunday. QB Baker Mayfield has been terrific so far this season, throwing 87 completions, 7 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions from 128 attempts.
Prediction
The markets have the Lions at -3 for this one but I think the manner of victory could be much more definitive here, especially if St. Brown is back in action. I’m going for a Lions win by at least a two score margin.
