Game Preview
The Vikings 27-20 loss to the Chiefs last week came with more than just the misery of defeat. Star wide receiver Justin Jefferson suffered a hamstring injury and has been placed on IR. It remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old will miss more than the 4 weeks that his IR status comes with. Rookie receiver Jordan Addison needs to overcome his ankle injury if he is to step into the role vacated by Jefferson otherwise K.J. Osborn will be the main man for the Vikings when they take on the Bears.
The Bears may have cruised to victory over the Commanders on Thursday night but there were still signs of a team with severe vulnerabilities. The running back room is looking severely depleted at present, with Khalil Herbert, Roschon Johnson and Travis Homer all yet to log a practice this week. D’Onta Foreman should step into the lead back role should Herbert and Johnson fail to take the field, with the newly re-signed Darrynton Evans taking backup snaps. QB Justin Fields is improving every week and Thursday finally brought the connection with WR DJ Moore that we have longed to see all season. If that continues then results should improve for Chicago.
Prediction
Both of these teams are missing key players, and that could make for a very different game than anticipated. If Chicago can get the passing offense going again, especially in the absence of so many RBs, then they may cause an upset here.
