  • The Vikings defeated the 49ers 17-22 on Monday.
  • The Packers lost 17-19 to the Broncos in week 7.
  • These teams last met in January 2023, with the Packers winning 17-41.

The 3-4 Minnesota Vikings travel to Green Bay to take on the 2-4 Packers. Both of these teams have had mixed fortunes so far this season but the Vikings fans will be hoping that their shock win over the 49ers last week will be a turning point and that more wins are on the horizon.

Game Preview

The Vikings overcame Superbowl favorites the 49ers in a close matchup on Monday night. Two touchdowns for rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison and three Greg Joseph field goals took them to a 17-22 victory. Addison racked up his first 100+ yard game of his fledgling career and showed that he can be the man to rely on in the absence of Justin Jefferson. Tight end T.J. Hockenson was listed as DNP on the Vikings’ mock practice report from Wednesday. His status will need monitoring through two more practice sessions.

The Packers struggled go mount any offense in the first half of their week 7 matchup with the Broncos and trailed 0-9 at halftime. Despite rallying in the second half, they fell just short and ended up 17-19 losers. RB Aaron Jones was used sparingly following the hamstring injury that has caused him to miss most of this season. The veteran is still listed as questionable for week 8 after missing Wednesday’s practice. WR Christian Watson left the game late on Sunday with a knee problem, but the sophomore practiced in full on Wednesday and should be good to go in week 8.

Prediction

The Vikings head into this matchup as slight favorites. It’s certainly hard to bet against them when you never know which Green Bay is going to turn up. I feel as though this game could end in a big win for either team, but I’ll side with Minnesota here.
