Game Preview
Washington put up a good fight against the Eagles in their 38-31 week 8 defeat. QB Sam Howell threw 39/52 completions for 397 yards and 4 touchdowns, and also found a way to finally get one of the Commanders’ best receiving options into the game. Jahan Dotson saw double digit targets for the first time this season, and converted them into 8 catches for 108 yards and one touchdown. Washington will improve their chances of success if those targets become a regular thing for Dotson.
The Patriots were second best in all departments as they lost 17-31 to the Dolphins in week 8. Worryingly they also lost WR Kendrick Bourne to a season ending ACL injury. In his absence, veteran Juju Sith-Schuster and promising rookie Demario Douglas should see expanded roles in the offense. Tight End Mike Gesicki could also benefit from the red zone targets that were primarily heading Bourne’s way through the first 8 weeks of the season.
Prediction
Neither of these teams has had much success on defense this season so there should be points on offer here. Washington has the better offense so I’m going with them to pick up the win.
