The NFL season kicks off next week. Let’s preview the upcoming Raiders vs Broncos AFC West clash. Both of these teams are hoping to completely rebound after massively disappointing with last season’s results.

The Raiders couldn’t repeat on a 2021 season where they made the playoffs with 10 wins. In 2022, they won just 6 games, despite having three players ranked in the NFL’s Top 100. Maxx Crosby and Davante Adams remained dominant, while Josh Jacobs had a sensational season. With QB Derek Carr moving on to the Saints, Jimmy Garoppolo will take over in Las Vegas. That change will make things even more difficult.
Denver was supposed to have a breakout season last year, but instead collapsed. The Broncos moves last offseason could be compared to the Jets this year, with similar hype enter last season. Unfortunately, Russell Wilson was nowhere near as good as advertised, and the team as a whole really underperformed. Some coaching changes should make a difference this year, but Denver is still not in good shape overall.
Prediction
This is one of the tougher opening matchups to predict. Both teams were expected to be solid last year, but finished with very poor results. This season, Denver is widely expected to bounce back, while the Raiders are considered a candidate for further regression. I don’t think Las Vegas will be as bad as people think, but the downgrade to an inconsistent Garoppolo isn’t ideal. Denver’s defense should earn the win.
