The NFL season is in full swing. Let’s preview the upcoming Saints vs Texans matchup. New Orleans was incredible on defense last week, and will aim to continue that against a rapidly improving Houston team.

Preview
The Saints had a signature win last week, dominating the Patriots in New England. Their defense was truly impeccable in the win, forcing 3 turnovers and scoring a defensive touchdown. The offense thrived with the pressure off of them. Banged up QB Derek Carr completed 18 of 26 passes for 183 yards and 2 TDs. New Orleans will aim to continue their momentum this week. Their defense has been their biggest asset.
Houston continued to look much more competitive than expected last week, despite ultimately losing to the Falcons. QB C.J. Stroud looks like by far the best QB from the 2023 draft after 5 weeks. He set the NFL record for most pass attempts to start a career without an interception, posting a near-100 passer rating in the process. Stroud’s success has put the Texans back on track much faster than expected.
Prediction
After winning so impressively in New England, the Saints are likely expected to win this game easily as well. I would be pretty surprised if this game is anywhere near as much of a blowout, though. I see the Saints having a bit of a regression game, with the Texans continuing to improve every week. I expect to see a very close game here. Ultimately, I’m taking Houston to come away with an upset victory at home.
