Team News
There was a growing belief that the Edmonton Oilers could be one of the standout sides to challenge for a place in the Stanley Cup finals over the final month of the season. However, they now face a crucial game two in the opening round, as they must claim victory to avoid a series whitewash in Los Angeles next week.
It was ultimately their discipline that was their undoing, as a crucial power play in overtime allowed the Kings to land a 4-3 win in Edmonton. The Oilers started the stronger of the two teams, as they raced into a 2-0 lead after the opening period. However, the Kings scored three in the final period to level the scores.

The Kings couldn’t believe their luck in game one of the series, as a more experienced team would have seen out the victory in a straightforward fashion. However, LA was able to take advantage of the Oilers in the final period.
Adrian Kempe scored twice in the success on the road for the Kings, while further efforts were registered by Anze Kopitar and Alex Iafallo. However, the Kings will likely need to start stronger in the second game of the series on Wednesday.
Picks
The Oilers were extremely naïve in the opening game, and they will need to have learned their lesson ahead of game two. We haven’t given up hope on the hosts making a charge toward the latter stages of the playoffs, and we could see them landing a big victory on Wednesday.
