Team News

The Dallas Stars ended the Western Conference regular season in excellent form after winning eight of their last ten. However, they were brought crashing back down to earth at the start of this series against the Minnesota Wild as they were beaten 3-2 after two periods of overtime.

It was the most dramatic game one in the playoffs this season, and the Stars appeared to lack that killer instinct in the final third. Both of their efforts were scored in the second period, with Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson recording the efforts.

This already seems like a massive opportunity for the Wild, as they could begin to dream of a place in the next round if they take a 2-0 series advantage. It was an excellent team display in game one, and they were fully-deserving of a 3-2 win after the second period of extra time.

Filip Gustavsson was in excellent form in the Wild goal, as he recorded 51 saves from 53 efforts. Sam Steel, Ryan Hartman, and Kirill Kaprizov scored the goals in the crucial game one success. The togetherness in the camp could play a huge role once again on Wednesday.

Picks

The Wild was excellent in the opening game of the series, and the Stars may be without Joe Pavelski for game two. However, we could see the hosts striking back in the second game and leveling the series ahead of the games in Minnesota.
