Team News
The Carolina Hurricanes have been excellent in this opening round series against the New York Islanders, and they could put one foot in the next round with a third straight win over their rivals. Carolina has one each of their two home games in the series, but they will play away from home for the first time in this first-round series on Friday.
Game two was an extremely entertaining affair between the sides, with the Hurricanes eventually running out 4-3 winners after overtime. Jaccob Slavin, Jesper Fast, and Stefan Noesen all scored goals in the win on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Brent Burns ended the night with two assists.

However, the Islanders will feel as though game two was one that they let get away from them. They led in the third period, before a mistake from Ilya Sorokin allowed Fast to score the winning goal for the Canes. The defeat now means that game three is a must-not-lose for the Islanders, as a 3-0 deficit would be near-impossible to turn around against this talented Hurricanes side.
Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri both scored goals for the Islanders in the defeat on Wednesday, with Matthew Barzal also finding the net. The pressure will really be on the Islanders for this home game on Friday, and it will be a win-at-all-cost showdown for the side from New York.
Picks
The pressure will be on the Islanders on Friday, while the Canes can rest easy on their 2-0 advantage. However, it was the manner in which the Islanders lost the game that would be most concerning. It was a gut-punching defeat, and that negative impact could play a huge role at UBS Arena in the Canes favor.
