Game Preview

It’s safe to say that a big majority of the 72,000 seats of Estadio Olimpico Universitario will be taken by UNAM Pumas fans. However, home support hasn’t done much for them in the games against UANL Tigres. They won just one of the last five Pumas vs. Tigres duels played in Mexico City.

The good news for the home team is that the win in question happened in their most recent game. It happened in August when we saw Pumas win 2-1.

It was a super tense game, with eight yellow cards in total. The visitors were the ones to control the game for nearly two-thirds of the time, but the home team was just better at creating dangerous goal attempts.

We expect Tigres to be the dominant force on Thursday as well, but will Pumas be able to hit them on the break again?

UNAM Pumas vs. UANL Tigres Prediction

UANL Tigres like to keep the ball in their possession, while UNAM Pumas are most dangerous when counterattacking. That said, Tigres looks like an ideal opponent for Pumas. Unless the visitors alter their strategy.

There’s a lot of at stake, which is why no one should be surprised if Tigres’ coach Robert Siboldi decides to go with a more conservative approach. In that case, the game could easily finish with no goals, or at least no more than two.
