Lionel Messi didn’t play last weekend against CF Montreal and his team lost. He returned on Wednesday in the CONCACAF Champions Cup and his team won. The soccer GOAT is expected to feature in the DC United vs. Inter Miami game, and we expect to see a lot from him.
But it’s not just about Messi. In 2024, Inter Miami also has Luis Suarez who is in top form, as well as Robert Taylor and Diego Gomez who are turning into a respectable midfield force.
With these guys on the field, Inter Miami looks capable of beating any opponent in the MLS. This goes for DC United too, especially because this team will be without several key men on May 16.
Their most valuable player Christian Benteke is out with an injury, and so is their first-choice goalkeeper Tyler Miller. His replacement Alex Bono hasn’t been too impressive, although he did keep a clean sheet against FC Cincinnati in the previous round of the 2024 MLS.

DC United is a good team, but these guys are no match to Inter Miami. This goes especially if Messi plays from the start. We think he will as coach Tata Martino wants his team to get back to their winning ways in the MLS as soon as possible.
