Game Preview
FC Cincinnati won the MLS Supporters’ Shield last year, which is the award given to the team that won the most points in the regular season. Cincy went 20-9-5, which accounted for 69 points.
In comparison, Toronto FC’s record was 4-10-20. That’s just 22 points won in 34 games, which made the Canadian side the team with the least number of points in last year’s MLS.
However, things have changed a lot for Toronto FC in 2024. First of all, this is going to be the first full season for John Herdman as Toronto’s head coach. The former Canada national team manager got at the helm of the Reds last October when everything was pretty much over for them.
Another major change is that Toronto now has a new captain. Midfielder Jonathan Osorio is now in that role following the retirement of legendary Michael Bradley at the end of last season.
Toronto FC, however, did not make any major signings during the latest transfer window. On the bright side for the Reds, neither has Cincinnati. Actually, Cincy has even lost one of its key men – the USMNT forward Brandon Vazquez has moved to Monterrey.
FC Cincinnati vs. Toronto FC Prediction
FC Cincinnati won each of the last four duels with Toronto FC. Last season, Cincy beat Toronto on the road 3-2, while the last time these two played in Ohio, it was 3-0 for the home side.
