PSG’s wait for a Champions League success has continued in recent seasons, as the addition of Lionel Messi failed to get the Parisians over the line in their bid for European success. It has been all change in the French capital this summer, with Luis Enrique opting to bring through youthful stars that are hungry for success.
In truth, PSG have an excellent record of navigating the group stage, as they haven’t crashed out in the opening round of a European competition since the 2011-12 season. However, the round of 16 has been their undoing in recent history, as they have been eliminated at that stage in each of the last two seasons.

Borussia Dortmund will be the first visitors to Paris this season in the Champions League, and they will need to get off to a solid start with matches against AC Milan and Newcastle United to come. It hasn’t been the best start to the season for the German side, as they have won just once in their opening three matches.
Dortmund will be aware that their home matches will be key to their chances this season, just as they were in 2022-23, as they reached the round of 16. However, they have failed to make major inroads in the tournament since finishing as runners-up in the 2012-13 season.
