Match Preview
It has been a solid start to the new season for Real Madrid, but their attention will switch to the Champions League this week after winning all of their opening matches at the start of the La Liga campaign. No side have played more games, won more matches, or scored more goals in Champions League history than Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants have reached the knockout stage in each of the last 27 seasons in the Champions League. In fact, they haven’t crashed out in the first round since the 1996-97 season. They will be heavily favored to top this group in the European competition this term.

Union Berlin will be making their Champions League debut this term, after finishing in the top four spots in the Bundesliga for the first time in history last term. They will become the 15th different side to represent Germany in the competition. However, only three of the last 14 have landed victory in their first ever match in the competition.
Union will also become the fifth side to make their Champions League debut against Real Madrid. However, each of the four debutants have lost against the Spanish opposition. Unsurprisingly, Union and Real Madrid will be locking horns for the first time ever on Wednesday.
