Match Preview

The domestic season in England gets underway this weekend, with the traditional curtain raiser taking place at Wembley Stadium as Arsenal and Man City compete in the Community Shield. Man City will be the clear favorites in the betting after winning a historic treble in 2022-23, but things haven’t exactly gone to plan for Pep Guardiola throughout the summer.

City is yet to truly strengthen their squad throughout the off-season, and they have lost quality in the form of Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan. However, Matteo Kovacic is one of the players that could be in line to make his City competitive debut on Sunday. The reigning Premier League champions come into this match after losing 2-1 against Atletico Madrid in their final warm-up match for the new season.

Mikel Arteta has spent big throughout the 2023 summer transfer window, as he looks to close the gap on Man City at the top of the Premier League standings. The Gunners have spent over $200 million in signing Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber, and all three players could be in line to make their competitive debuts at Wembley Stadium this weekend.

The Gunners certainly looked strong in their final warm-up match, as they registered a 5-3 win over Barcelona. Bukayo Saka was among the scorers in that win, while Havertz and Fabio Vieira also found the net. Arsenal could put down an early marker for the season ahead against the reigning Premier League champions at Wembley.

Arsenal vs Man City Prediction

Man City was beaten in the curtain raiser by Liverpool last season, but we expect them to kickstart their 2023-24 campaign in dominant fashion at Wembley this year. We fully expect City to showcase why they are the leading team in Europe with a dominant success over Arsenal.
