Match Preview
It has been an indifferent start to life at Stamford Bridge for Mauricio Pochettino, but the EFL Cup could present the new coach with his best chance of winning silverware this term. The Blues come into this quarterfinal showdown after bouncing back to winning ways in the Premier League last Saturday after recording a 2-0 home win against Sheffield United.
Chelsea have won the EFL Cup on five previous occasions, and most recently reached the final a couple of seasons ago when losing to Liverpool on penalties. The Blues last won the competition in 2015, which was their third victory in the EFL Cup since 2004.

Eddie Howe would have been delighted to get a number of first-team players back in the squad over the weekend, with Dan Burn making his return with the third effort in a 3-0 success against Fulham at St. James’ Park. However, a major honor would showcase that the Magpies have made further progress under the English coach this term.
Newcastle reached the final of the EFL Cup last term before they were beaten easily at Wembley by Man United. The Magpies also reached the final of the competition in 1976, but they are yet to record a victory. Their last major domestic honor was achieved way back in 1955 after winning the FA Cup.

Newcastle certainly offers value in the betting for this quarterfinal showdown on Tuesday after eliminating Man United and Man City in the previous two rounds. The Magpies have also won two of their last three league matches against Chelsea.
