Match Preview
It has been an impressive first half to the season for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, and the Reds remain in contention to win four major trophies this term. Liverpool continued their strong domestic form over the previous weekend, recording a 2-0 success on the road against Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup at the Emirates.
Meanwhile, they have been excellent in the EFL Cup to this point, having eased through the previous three rounds. Liverpool are among the highest scorers remaining in the competition after netting ten goals across their three matches. Fulham have never previously won the EFL Cup, but they could stand an excellent chance of reaching the final this term. The opening leg will likely be huge for their chances of achieving that, as they will likely look for a draw before the second leg is staged at Craven Cottage at the end of the month.
The Cottagers have already upset the odds in the EFL Cup this term, eliminating Tottenham in the second round from the penalty spot. They also booked their spot in this stage of the competition from the penalty spot after outlasting Everton at Goodison Park in the final eight. They have been challenging to beat in the competition this term, and that gives them a fighting chance this week.
