Match Preview

Jurgen Klopp will be hopeful of a response from his Liverpool side on Wednesday, as they return to action for the first time since their disappointing home performance against Man United. The Reds looked weak in the final third throughout that match, failing to create many clear scoring opportunities against the underperforming Red Devils.

However, the Reds have been one of the most dominant sides in the EFL Cup throughout history, having won the competition on nine previous occasions. Their most recent success was achieved in 2022 after beating Chelsea on penalties at Wembley.

West Ham remain in the hunt for two major trophies at this stage of the season, as they look for a second major honor in as many seasons. The Hammers got their campaign back on track over the weekend, producing an excellent team performance to land a 3-0 home win against Wolves. Mohammed Kudus was excellent in that match at the London Stadium after netting a brace.

However, the Hammers are yet to win the EFL Cup in their history. They have twice reached the final, most recently losing at the final hurdle in 1981. Their most recent domestic cup success was achieved in 1980 after winning the FA Cup.

Liverpool vs West Ham Prediction

Liverpool’s record in this fixture is very challenging to overlook when considering the most likely outcome on Wednesday. Therefore, we will be siding with the Reds to claim a home win to secure their spot in the last four of the competition.
