Wrexham’s long-awaited return to the Football League finally comes this weekend, as the Welsh club kick off the next chapter of their story against MK Dons at the Racecourse Ground. Wrexham are among the front-runners in the betting to gain promotion, as the owners have invested in the squad since taking over. Phil Parkinson is also a proven manager at this level, and the club have strengthened over the summer with the addition of Will Boyle. MK Dons is a tricky opening day match for Wrexham, as the Dons were relegated from League One at the end of last season. That means that they are among the leading contenders in the betting this season, as they boast a higher caliber of player compared to most teams in the division. However, the Dons will need to re-adjust to life in the fourth tier quickly after losing a number of key players, including Will Grigg, Bradley Johnson, and Josh McEachran.
But, they have added quality at this level throughout the pre-season, with the signings of Alex Gibey and Nathan Harness from Charlton Athletic, and Cameron Norman from Newport County.
