Match Preview
A thrilling Europa League final lies in wait this week, as Jose Mourinho’s Roma clashes with Sevilla. Sevilla is the most successful team in Europa League history, and they have reached the final of the seventh time in their history. Interestingly, they have won the competition on each occasion that they have reached this stage of the Europa League.
Sevilla can also make history in midweek, as they chase a seventh Europa League title. Only five other European sides have landed success in at least seven European campaigns. Spanish sides also boast the advantage in previous European final clashes with Italian teams, as they have won nine of the previous 13, which includes wins in each of the last three.

However, Roma will be led into battle by Mourinho, who has a dominant record in European cup finals. The Portuguese coach is yet to lose in five appearances, with his most recent success coming in Roma’s Europa Conference League winning campaign 12 months ago. However, the Italian side hasn’t reached the Europa League final since 1991.
On that occasion, they were beaten in the final by Inter Milan. Overall, this is their fifth appearance in a European final. Roma has clashed with Sevilla on just one previous occasion, with the Spanish side recording a 2-0 win in the 2019-20 season.

We find it challenging to foresee this being a high-scoring clash between Roma and Sevilla in the Europa League final. Therefore, we could see a cagey clash between the sides heading to extra-time. However, a chance will be taken on the Italian side to claim victory in the additional period.
