Match Preview

The 142nd edition of the FA Cup will be competed between two of the biggest teams in the world. For the first time in history, Man United and Man City collide in the final of the worldโ€™s oldest soccer competition, with City looking to keep alive their dreams of a treble.

City last reached the final in 2019, and this will be their 12th appearance in the showpiece match. Pep Guardiolaโ€™s side has already won the Premier League title this term, and they have been excellent throughout the FA Cup. They eliminated Chelsea and Arsenal in back-to-back home matches in the opening two rounds, before seeing off Bristol City, Burnley, and Sheffield United. City are yet to concede a goal in the FA Cup this season, and they have found the net on 17 occasions.

Erik ten Hag has undeniably enjoyed an excellent first campaign with United, as the Red Devils have already ended their six-year wait for silverware and concluded the season in the Champions League spots. However, a second piece of silverware would cap a memorable debut season for the Dutchman, while it would also end Cityโ€™s dream of emulating Unitedโ€™s 1999-treble winning campaign.

The Red Devils played four of their five matches in the FA Cup at Old Trafford, registering 3-1 wins over Everton, Reading, West Ham, and Fulham. However, they needed their fair share of luck in the previous round, as they eventually overcame Brighton from the penalty spot.

Man City vs Man United Prediction

It will be a huge clash between the sides this weekend, as City look to keep their treble dreams alive. Both sides registered a win apiece during the regular season, with City winning 6-3 at the Etihad and United landing a 2-1 win at Old Trafford. However, it is hard to overlook City landing success this weekend, as the Red Devils have still looked vulnerable defensively following the key injury to Lisandro Martinez.
